Hello World, I’m Auti 👋

I’m a cybersecurity consultant at EY based in LA, working on vulnerability management, cloud security, and risk and compliance. I did my bachelor’s in Cybersecurity (with minors in AI & ML) at Mumbai University, and my master’s in Cybersecurity Engineering at USC.

How did I get here?

In ninth grade my Windows machine died on me. I didn’t want to just hand it over to someone else, so I taught myself Linux to fix it. That was it for me. I’ve been hooked on figuring out how computers actually work and engineering stuff ever since.

What I do?

I started at EY as an intern, helping a retail business run its vulnerability management program. I worked with their leadership and tech teams to decide what to priortize and tie it back to the frameworks and standards they cared about.

Outside of EY, I’ve advised a tech company on cloud infrastructure security, access management, and encryption. Before that, my previous research work covered security operations, threat intelligence, operational technology, and mobile app security. That includes building a SOC at VJTI and reverse engineering ARM-based systems.

I play CTFs and do competitions whenever I can. It’s the fastest way I know to pick up new techniques, and nothing beats breaking something yourself to understand how it works.

I travel and hike when I get the chance, and I’m a big airplane nerd. Planes and computers appeal to me for the same reason, they’re complicated machines that make sense once you take them apart. Most days end with me watching the sunset and enjoying SoCal. I love traveling across and you’d often find me in the SD, Bay or NYC if not LA (bi-coastal btw).
